Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search tool is transmitted directly to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the request and supplies its results. We do not keep or log those search terms on our systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
We retain an email sent to us as needed to answer it. The message remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, servers may collect routine technical information about the visit:
- Page-view times and the pages opened
- Device type and operating system
- Browser name and version
- Device IP address
- Time spent on visited pages
- The referring website, when available
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. They and analytics services help combine traffic information, such as popular pages and points where visits end. Browser controls can block cookies, although disabling them may change how some site functions behave.
What We Do With This Data
- Sending a query to the selected search provider
- Diagnosing errors and performance problems
- Operating and maintaining the website
- Measuring which resources visitors use
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Washington County Criminal History does not own, compile, maintain, or sell a database of personal criminal records. Its content identifies official routes through the Washington County Sheriff, the Circuit Court, the Missouri State Highway Patrol Central Repository, and the Missouri Sex Offender Registry. Visitor information is not assembled into a third-party record or consumer report. This site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies power the search boxes. A provider's own privacy policy governs data entered into its tool, including that company's retention and sharing practices. We do not control those terms. Review the applicable provider policy before sending a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to courts, sheriff resources, Missouri agencies, legal organizations, and outside search services. Once a visitor leaves this site, the destination's privacy terms apply. Read them before providing personal information.
Advertising companies may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and select ads. Their practices are not controlled by this policy.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal data. Information may be available to these limited categories:
- Analytics providers measuring site traffic and operation
- Search providers processing a query submitted to their tool
- Advertising networks serving ads on the site
- A government or law-enforcement body acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable security practices are used to protect collected information. No internet service can guarantee absolute security, so we cannot promise that unauthorized access or a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
The site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. If such information is identified, a request may be made for its deletion.
Your Data Rights
Rights can vary by residence and applicable law. Missouri's Sunshine Law, Chapter 610 RSMo, governs access to public governmental records, while §43.506 RSMo governs dissemination from the state criminal-history repository. Those laws do not turn this private site into a government custodian. Subject to applicable law, a visitor may:
- Request access to personal information we retain
- Ask that inaccurate retained information be corrected
- Seek deletion of retained personal information
- Object to certain processing where the law provides that choice
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised as site practices or legal requirements change. A new version will be posted here and identified by its effective date.
